There has been an increase in foreign families coming to work and live in Japan but adjusting to Japanese systems, language and daily life can be challenging! Wouldn't it be a relief to have some extra help?

At UPBEAT, we are very aware of these challenges and have come up with some solutions to support this transition. We would like to introduce some extra support that our UPBEAT Sitter Service can provide to foreign families! These are the ways that we get involved:

Language and administrative support:
Language is often a big barrier for a lot of foreigners coming to Japan and we know how limited English support services are! The reality is that we still need to do life admin and follow procedures such as opening bank accounts, registering with our ward offices and following up on any communication from the government. We will accompany you to government offices and banks to assist with translation! Need to send important documents, gifts or anything else? We will assist you with making use of UPS services.

Taking care of your health:
It can be quite unsettling to come to a new country where the healthcare system is new and you don't have the confidence to know which healthcare providers are reliable and going to take care of your needs. More than that, having access to health care in your own language is super important. We have English speaking nurses readily available to support you. Furthermore, we can link you with English-speaking doctors and accompany you to visits if needed!

Daily life support:
To ease the strain, we are happy to assist with doing activities such as grocery shopping, chores and other support you might need. We will spend time getting to know your personal family needs and fill in the gaps!

 

Immersion into Japanese culture:
Want to learn more about Japanese culture, food, and get involved in what the locals are doing? We can share important cultural practices with you and even introduce you to events that are happening around you. If you'd like, our sitters could even accompany you, showing you around, helping with translation and guiding you to have the best experiences!

Japanese lessons:
As an important step for your child to socially integrate into Japanese society, speaking a little bit of Japanese can go a long way! As part of our sitter service, we have multiple ways for your child to learn Japanese. We offer face-to-face or online lessons to suit your schedule. Furthermore, our sitters can communicate with your child in Japanese during the sitting service times and give your child opportunities to use Japanese in everyday conversations.
